Visas & Documents

Yes, most nationalities require a Chinese tourist visa (L visa). We provide an official invitation letter to support your application. The process typically takes 4-7 business days. Citizens of Singapore, Brunei, and Japan may enjoy visa-free entry for short stays — check the latest regulations.

Xinjiang: Standard Chinese visa is sufficient for most areas. Tibet: A Tibet Travel Permit is required for all foreign travelers, which we arrange on your behalf. Certain border areas in Xinjiang (e.g., Tashkurgan) may require additional permits — we handle all paperwork.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan offer visa-free entry for many nationalities (including EU, UK, Malaysia, Singapore). Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan offer e-visas that can be obtained online. We provide detailed guidance based on your nationality when you book a multi-country tour.

Yes, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses, trip cancellation, and lost luggage. While not mandatory, it gives you peace of mind. We can recommend trusted insurance providers upon request.

Travel & Safety

Yes, the Silk Road through China is very safe for international travelers. Xinjiang, Gansu, and Qinghai have modern infrastructure and strong security. We have operated tours since 2005 with zero safety incidents. Our local guides know every route and ensure your comfort at all times.

May through October is the prime season. May-June offers pleasant spring weather and fewer crowds. September-October brings stunning autumn colors and the harvest season. July-August is warmest and busiest. Winter (November-March) offers lower prices and unique snowy landscapes.

Pack layers — temperatures can vary 20°C between day and night in desert areas. Essentials: comfortable walking shoes, sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, light jacket, photo ID, power adapter, and any personal medications. We'll send a detailed packing list with your itinerary.

Our vehicles have Wi-Fi hotspots in most areas. We recommend installing a VPN before arriving in China to access Google, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. We can advise on reliable VPN options. Alternatively, purchase a local SIM card with a data plan at the airport.

Most Silk Road destinations are below 2,000m and pose no altitude concerns. Tibet tours and Pamir Highway routes reach 3,500-5,000m. We design itineraries with gradual ascent, provide oxygen canisters in vehicles, and our guides are trained to recognize and respond to altitude symptoms.

On the Tour

Depending on group size: 1-3 travelers use comfortable SUVs, 4-6 use spacious minivans, 7+ use air-conditioned coaches. For long distances, we recommend high-speed trains or domestic flights to maximize your time at destinations. All vehicles are well-maintained with professional drivers.

Standard packages use 4-star hotels (e.g., Hilton, Sheraton where available). In remote areas like the Gobi Desert or Pamir Mountains, we select the best available guesthouses or traditional yurt camps. Luxury packages upgrade to 5-star hotels throughout. Budget options available on request.

The Silk Road is a food lover's paradise! Enjoy Xinjiang lamb kebabs, hand-pulled noodles (laghman), Gansu beef noodles, Uyghur naan, Central Asian plov, and abundant fresh fruits (grapes, melons, pomegranates). We accommodate halal, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs.

Yes, all our guides are fluent in English and professionally trained. Many also speak additional languages. For specific language requirements (French, German, Japanese, etc.), let us know in advance and we'll arrange accordingly.

Absolutely! Popular extensions include Beijing (Great Wall), Shanghai, Zhangjiajie, Tibet, and Chengdu (pandas). We also offer Central Asia extensions to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Just tell us your interests and we'll design a seamless multi-destination journey.
