Bright Summit Peak
At 1,860 meters, Bright Summit Peak is one of Huangshan's three main peaks and offers the most commanding 360-degree panorama on the mountain. From here you can see both sunrise and sunset depending on the season, with views stretching across the entire granite range. The summit is accessible by cable car or via well-maintained stone steps.
West Sea Grand Canyon
Known as the "Grand Canyon of Huangshan," this dramatic gorge plunges deep between sheer rock walls. A winding trail of stone steps — some carved directly into cliff faces — descends through fairy-tale scenery of pinnacles, pine trees, and swirling mist. The 3-4 hour hike is challenging but rewards with the mountain's most dramatic and least crowded vistas.
Hongcun Ancient Village
A UNESCO World Heritage village at the foot of Huangshan, Hongcun is a masterpiece of Huizhou architecture laid out in the shape of an ox. The crescent Moon Pond, the central South Lake, and white-walled ancestral halls create reflections so perfect the village appears painted on water. Huangshan Hot Springs

Spring (Apr-May)
The mountain awakens with blooming azaleas and wildflowers carpeting the slopes. Temperatures are mild (10-20°C), and the misty weather creates dramatic cloud seas. April and May offer the best balance of comfortable hiking conditions and beautiful scenery — though rain is common, so pack waterproof gear.
Autumn (Sep-Nov)
The golden season — crisp, clear air with brilliant blue skies that make the granite peaks pop against the horizon. Temperatures range from 10-22°C, and the autumn foliage adds warm reds and golds to the landscape. September and October are widely considered the best months for photography, with the highest chance of clear summit views.
Summer (Jun-Aug)
Crowded but lush — the mountain is at its greenest with waterfalls flowing at full force. Temperatures at the summit are a pleasant 15-25°C, offering welcome relief from the lowland heat. Expect more visitors, especially during July and August school holidays. Afternoon thunderstorms are common but pass quickly, often leaving behind spectacular rainbows.
Winter (Dec-Mar)
Huangshan transformed into a snow-dusted wonderland — granite peaks and pine branches coated in rime ice create an ethereal monochrome landscape. Temperatures dip to -5 to 5°C, but the views of a frozen sea of clouds are truly magical. Fewer crowds mean you'll have the trails largely to yourself, and hotels offer significant winter discounts.
